Rimita Green is a family company from Pietarsaari (Jakobstad) that we, Minna and Riku-Pekka Uusitalo \u2013 mother and son \u2013 founded in 2014. Our journey together as entrepreneurs has held many interesting and educational experiences, which have further increased our appreciation and trust in each other and in the raw materials that come from Finnish nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why was Rimita Green founded?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The idea for founding Rimita Green arose from this realisation: what we apply to the surface of our skin ends up everywhere in the body through the bloodstream. Our cosmetic choices affect our wellbeing very holistically. We at Rimita have been out in nature since childhood, gathering mushrooms, berries and wild herbs for food. Sea buckthorn growing wild on the Ostrobothnian coast has a very special place in our hearts \u2013 so it is no coincidence that this vitamin-rich temptation is one of the key raw materials in Rimita Green’s products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We feel that Finns still do not appreciate enough our pure and diverse nature and the wonderful raw materials it offers. Our passion is to refine the best gifts of nature into high-quality export products. All Rimita Green’s products are a tribute to Finnish nature. Nature is of course much more than a treasure trove of genuine raw materials for us: it is a place for calming down, recovering, relaxing and grounding \u2013 and above all valuable for its own sake, not only for what use it is to people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What matters in Rimita Green’s products?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Value for money. From the very beginning our common thread was to create ecological and ethical natural cosmetics whose excellent value for money makes environmentally friendly choices possible for as many people as possible. Our principle has always been to make products that improve people’s lives, using only the best-quality raw materials \u2013 nothing superfluous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Effectiveness is essential too: in a busy everyday life, ecological products must work at least as well as synthetic ones. Every Rimita product is designed with a big heart to offer the user a whole-body sensory pleasure \u2013 small, restorative, pampering moments that fit into every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heart and reason in product development<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Although using the gifts of Finland’s infinite natural richness is above all a matter of the heart, our raw-material choices are always based on researched knowledge. We choose raw materials with proven properties. For example, we have collaborated with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, which has studied the benefits of Finnish berries extensively; the collaboration showed that sea buckthorn is a true superberry, full of antioxidants, omega fatty acids and vitamins important for skin wellbeing. In addition to sea buckthorn we especially value Finnish oats, whose skincare benefits are also well documented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are developing new products from other unique gifts of our nature right now. The amounts of caring ingredients in Rimita’s products are such that they really have an effect \u2013 plants are not used in our jars to create an attractive image but for their genuine efficacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world becomes better one eco-act at a time, and the more people join in with their choices, the faster the change happens. We strongly believe that in future organic will be a given. We want to help people in this transition by offering effective ecological skincare and hygiene products for the whole family. It is important to us to keep prices at a level where as many people as possible can make eco-acts that respect both people and the environment. We do not want good things for the few \u2013 we want solutions that build a better world for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If our company were described with three adjectives, they would be: genuine, honest and innovative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Genuine means, for us, not only using pure raw materials from nature but also appreciating diversity \u2013 in nature and in people. Difference is richness, and together we are more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honest means, besides ecology and ethics, transparency and standing behind our words. We do not claim things about our products that are not true, and we do not coat our messages in pink marketing fluff. It is very important to us that the good our products do for the user does not come at the expense of others. Our argan oil is one example: its production supports the valuable work of women in Africa and the wellbeing of their communities. The Berber women who pick the argan fruit used to make it are paid an extra compensation on top of their normal pay. RimitaGold argan oil helps both its user’s skin and Berber families to feel better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Innovative means, for us, both observations based on research and intuitive insight. A comprehensively inventive approach and eager curiosity guide everything we do. We are certainly not going to reinvent the wheel, but there is still a huge amount to develop in natural cosmetics. RimitaDeo: an aluminium-free and baking-soda-free natural deodorant<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Our aluminium-free and baking-soda-free RimitaDeo started from a real need: none of the natural cosmetic deodorants we had tested worked well enough for us. Baking-soda-based deodorants caused an allergic reaction, and as chemical-conscious people we did not want to use synthetic deodorants containing aluminium. Choosing a natural deodorant instead of a chemical-heavy one is one of the biggest everyday eco-acts related to your own body that each of us can make.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We think a deodorant is worth investing in because it is applied to some of the body’s most sensitive places: the underarms, near which lymph nodes are located. RimitaDeo is an antibacterial eco-deodorant whose effectiveness is based on a blend of organic-quality chamomile, lavender, lemon and rosemary.
